My husband is a chevy mechanic, our cars never have problems. You not only want to see who is reliable, but how expensive is it to fix when it does break. Foregin cars are very expensive to fix. (honda, nissan, toyota...) You also need to look at each car individually, we drive a monte carlo, but chevy does put out some low end cars, that we wouldn't own. Check consumer report.
Best place to look is J.D. Power. There you`ll get info on all the top cars in various price ranges. Ther you can look for the qualities which apply to you.

We have had Ford forever. They are the most reliable domestic car. My uncles dodge is always breaking down, and my friends chevy is always having problems. It all depends on how you take care of your car. If you reguarly matinence it and don't run it like it is indestructable you will be all right with any car.
Almost any car can be reliable with proper maintenance. My '97 Mercury Sable has 175k on it, no problems. But I bought the wife a Mercedes ML, no problems there, either. If you're looking at used cars, I'd stick with the Hondas and Toyotas.
Ok this is not even a question... TOYOTA?! Camry's to be specific.. you dont understand one unless you drive it all the time. plus if you really want a sporty car, mod it like i did.. neon + a paint job and you're all set. If i took off the CAMRY on the back of the car and showed someone they would be like dang.. not a bad ride. but once i put the camry back on, they would be like EW a grandma's car. If you still think im wrong... then go look at the mcginnis book of world records.. i just saw on the news a little while ago that some old couple broke the world record by a longshot by driving an old camry for over a million miles or something and not have anything wrong with it. I have no clue where they went but they said it has been passed down thru the generations.. if thats not reliable then i dont know what is! If toyota isnt your thing for w/e reason then id say Mazda.. as long as you take care of it and take care of your transmission and air filters, you should have no problem-- and it has a nice sporty/businessy look, nevermind great mpg... catch is if the transmission blows... it probably has the most expensive transmission out of any other vehicle ive seen --at around 2-3,500 dollars. this is becuase its not totally rare to see a mazda with a crappy transmission... if you dont take care of it.
Nissan, my altima has 279,000.00 original parts except the 02 censor. AC still works too.
