Im tired of Subwoofer bass in my car and for those who want it!!! EVERYBODY READ!!!??
Question: has anyone every had a powerful subwoffer setup in your car that makes the car rattle when listing to music and make ya ears ring afterwards? well i have 2 10 subs that makes deep bass, problem is, all that loud bass is getting old to me and it drowns out the quality in the music. well all im saying is, if you plan on getting subs, at first you gon be beating down the block and after awhile you gonna start getting bored with loud bass. well i am though. i just took the subs out my trunk. boy dint i enjoy the tweeters and 8' factory sub for the first time since the installation of my subs. any replies? not saying i dont like loud bass but once u have had it in your car everyday, it becomes irrirtating with all that bass in your ears.
Answers: This is exactly why I don't understand these people that want 2000 watt systems that sound good . There is no such thing. I've often wondered if it wasn't a translation for sound loud by mistake.
This is why I went with a nice small 400 watt system strictly for better bass extension for a well balanced system.
It's called Maturity . I used to have a Honda with a thumping system. I too got tired of it after a while. I still enjoy the music, I just prefer excellent sound quality over sheer volume(and distortion) now.
Well, nowadays amps come with bass controllers. The bass controller allows the user to adjust the bass depending on the song or if the user wants very low bass. Easy to control without popping the trunk. You can do this while sitting in the luxury of your seat.
I still love that thump...but I never liked it loud enough to ring or distort...
All my cars have subs.
My 98' Mustang has 2 12 kenwoods pushed by a 1200 kenwood amp. It thumps. I have them in a bandpass bass box. I does rattle some, but not too bad. It sounds fine when I turn it down.
My 97' Golf has 2 10 rockford subs pushed by 2 rockford amps.
I also have a box that I took out my old Camry that has 3 12 rockford subs in it. I used a 1600 performance amp to push those.
I love bass!
I think there must be a for you to tweak your subs so they don't sound like poop when your riding.
what kind of subs and what kind of power were u running? get subs that are more sq and less spl. then u wont have so much bass ur head hurts. 1 or 2 10's or even something like 2-4 8's, get a good component set in front and a good set of 2 or 3ways in the back. run the speakers on a 4ch amp to get over double the power to them ud get from ur headunit. with a setup like that ud get more quality and less rattle
My subwoofer is an essential part of my audio system.
It's not there to drown out the front speakers.
It's not there to be heard outside the car.
It's not there to impress people.
It's there to work together with the other speakers in my car to give me a full, balanced sound.

The problem isn't the product. The problem is how you chose to use it.
See now the poster of this question has got an ooolllld setup.
What ive done is with my boot setup ive mounted 4 subs, two 15 subs and two 10 subs....they are both running off 2 different amps, so when i want to have thumping loud bass i switch the 15 subs on...but when i just want a bit of a rumble o turn off the 15 subs and run the 2 10 subs.
The setup i got, when turned right up gives people nosebleeds. :p
i am close to 40
