Who Makes Better Subs Kicker Or Kenwood??
Question: Im Thinkin About Getting 2 12 Kicker CVR's Or 2 12 Kenwood KFC W3011 and I Just wanted to know which one is better
Answers: The Kenwood KFC W3011 certainly looks better than the Kickers. Kicker offers the subwoofers in a loaded enclosure, the Kicker 07DCVR12. Both brands of subwoofers can handle 400 watts R.M.S. each (Root Means Square measured at 14.4 volts of input) for a total power handling of 800 watts. The Kickers are Dual Voice Coils which means depending on how you wire the voice coils(parallel ++ - - or series + - + -) the load on the amp will be a different impedance, measured in ohms. The Kicker 07DCVR12 looks like it already comes wired in series which gives a 4 ohms load. You can achieve a
1 ohm load by wiring them in parallel, just pull out the subs and rewire the voice coils. If running a 1 ohm load you will need an expensive amplifier and the system will run hotter, so a 4 ohm load is better, your system and it's components will run cooler & usually last longer too. The Kenwoods are 4 ohm Single Voice Coil, if you wire the voice coils in parallel you will achieve a 2 ohm load on the amplifier. Ok, now you have facts about the subs. Now you need to choose an amplifier. If you go with the Kickers you will need an amp that will put out 400 watts x 2 channels @ 4 ohms load. The MTX TA7804 amplifier is perfect for that. It is rated at 400 watts x 2 @ 4 ohmsload in bridged mode. If you go with the Kenwoods you need an amp that will put out 400 watts x 2 channels @ 2 ohms load. The Rockford Fosgate T8004 is perfect for that. It is rated at 400 watts x 2 channels @ 2 ohms load in bridged mode. Remember, don't go by the manufacturer's rated Peak Power. Peak Power is what a speaker or amplifier can put out in one short burst of power, it's not continous power handling. Always go by the R.M.S. rating. If possible try to buy a capacitor for your amplifier, it stores electrical energy for when your amp needs it. A rule of thumb is 1 Farad for every 1000 watts of power. Manufaturers like Streetwires, Stinger, Lightning Audio, Rockford Fosgate make capacitors, even 1/2 Farad for systems operating at 500 watts. Try to get an extra battery and mount it in the trunk, you'll need an isolator for it. If you get multiple amps you'll need a distribution block. Remember to fuse the positive connection that runs from your amp to your car battery's positive terminal, use a 4 gauge size wire. Good luck, email me if you need more help.
Kickers are trust me i used to install subs the kickers are awesome if your willing to put out a little more money kicker comps would be awesome but definatly go with kicker
they are both pretty good in my opinion. but i sure do love my little 10 kicker it pounds great for fairly cheap and a for it being hooked up to a shitty old amp.
I prefer Kicker but for me Rockford Fostgate works better.Use to have two P1 Rockfords in my Benz and worked awsome.Sound and value of bass is excellent.People didn't believe in those 2 P1's
12 kickers in my opinion. CVRs sounds great, with hard hittin bass notes.kenwood goes for sound quality and clarity not big bass booms.
kicker is better, because wattage difference for the price. kicker puts out better bass disposition.i would recomend L7
you can never go wrong with kicker but kenwood is not bad
