Truck owners out there who like serious music??
Question: What kind of speakers and amp should I buy for my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 single cab? I like deep bass and don't want something too expensive. I already have two boxes for twelve inch speakers, just want something good to fill them. Any suggestions?
Answers: The problem with already having enclosures is finding subs that fit the internal volume for best performance. Subwoofer manufacturers have specifications as to what size/type of enclosure best suits their product.
Some buying suggestions:
Only buy amps that are CEA-2006 compliant.
Typically a subwoofer sensitivity of 91 dB or higher as well as the frequency response of 25 Hz or less is desired.

Pioneer 12's or Bose
How big are the boxes? that will matter a lot. When you tell me that ill give ya my answer.
JL Audio subwoofers are my choice for installation behind the seat of a pickup truck. The 12w1V2 works well in a small enclosure and you can get an optional speaker grill for it that just snaps into the front of the mounting assembly so your seat doesn't restrict the speaker's excursion. Pioneer and Rockford Fosgate also have some very shallow mount subwoofers that would work. These also handle more power than the JL 12w1 subwoofers but I like the sound of the JL's better. If you want your subs to have a smoother sound, put a layer of polyfill on the back wall of the inside of the subwoofer enclosure.
i own a dodge 2003 1500 single cab, and i don't know how your going to get that box to fit back there (good luck). I had to literally destroy the space behind the seats to get a box for 10 subs to fit. i had to build my own box for 4 10 subs because i love bass too (ill email you a pic), but you can get real good sound from the 10 kicker CVR. i know cause i started off with two, i just got greedy and now I'm in a bad spot (check out my sub question ).
