IPod and Head Unit Integration??
Question: First I have an iPod and love it. Second I'm in the market for a new head unit. I have seen a bunch of companies that have special wiring to connect their head units to the iPod and then use the head unit controls to control the iPod. Alpine and Pioneer, I believe are two of the brands I have seen. Now my question is Is there any lag using the head unit controls to control the iPod? I have heard rumors of people who said they they knew someone who knew someone... ...who had issues with their system. I would appreciate first hand experience! Also, please include the brand of the head unit and model if you can.
Answers: i have had great success with alpine, pioneer, kenwood, blaupunkt, sony xplode, panasonic,and eclipse. the ones that have the problems are typically the off brands and the cheaper brands. stay away from those and you'll be ok. i have sold and installed many of these units and have had no problems at all with them, my customers love the way the ipod works when controlled by the reciever. tell your buddies buddies buddy to quit being a cheap a$$ and spend the extra few bucks for a much better reciever.
