Car Audio Question!??

Question: I have two audiobahn AW1251T, I made a box for them designed from audiobahn with the correct amount of air space inside,( i had to customize it a little bit to fit my car but still has the same air space), they said this box can be sealed or ported and from listening to my friend who has crapy speakers but a ported box, sounds almost as good as mine, so the question is if i where to port my box, what size should the holes should they be, my box dimensions are 15''-12.5''-32'' for those who might need that info, or if i should even port it at all. please type and let me know!
Answers: The port is used to 'tune' a ported enclosure for optimal subwoofer performance. The port should be no less than 3 in diameter to prevent port noise. Also the tube shall not be any closer to any inside wall it's diameter, meaning it can't be less than 3 from a wall.

Port tube length calculations:

input = Radius of Port (R), tuning frequency in Hz (fb), Volume of the box in cubic inches (Vb), (L) will be the resulting length of tube.

L = (1.463 X 10^7 X R^2 / (fb^2) X Vb) - 1.463 X R
