I have a 1980 camaro and i'm thinking of going electric!??
Question: my friends have told me that electric fans are the way to go, but i have a friend who said what about if you lose power to the fan the car may overheat etc.i heard that you gain between 10 to 21 hp if you remove the fan from the motor. what is the best way to hok up the electric fan and will i gain hp?
Answers: electric fans are the way to go
What the hell is wrong with you
dont split with that car for anything
yeah... yeah i totally agree with you on that one.
get an electric fan kit; preferably with a thermostat to turn it on when the engine become too warm.
your friends dont know you should do it, bad move, think bout it twice. i wouldnt do it.
I like the electric fan mod. Makes working on a running motor much safer, better gas mileage and more HP of course. You can buy a kit that has thermostat and relay. Relay is recommended to route the higher amperage through instead of a toggle switch. Make sure you set it up so it won't run after you turn the ignition off so as to not run down your battery. You will be happy with an electric fan.
HERE IT IS BUDDY, chances are you have a VISCOUS clutch style fan where it only engages when you need it. i had a 1979 firebird it had the Viscous clutch style fan, so you wont gain anything out of changing it to electric, plus your car does not have any computer system to run that fun so you would have to do it manualy. or bye a whole kit that makes it run off the temperature of the coolant, your better off sticking with the fan you have unless its all time fan or a belt driven fan.
sell it for lots o cash
talk to someone who cares!
sell it to me!
