Question: i need to know how a kickdown cable works. my car is high in the front can i just buy lower spings? thanx to you guys who tried to help me with my shorty headers but they still kicked my @$$,so i have to get the very short headers the one that look like midget arms..has anyone ever tried them?
Answers: kickdown cable is a cable that enables the trans to jumop down gears under severe load and throttle position for better accelleration. if its not in correct adjustment, the trans jumps down gears unneccessarily, or will not jump down gears. newer cars have either a vacuum controlled kickdown, or an ecu (computer) controlled kickdown

shorter spings are available, buy them from a respected supply place or from a spring maker. do not shorten them using the oxy or grinder as this method weakens the metal and can cause fatigue and failure. they come in various heights, usually sold as inches lower than stock such as 1.5 inch, 2 inch etc
a kick down cable goes from the carb to the trans, when you push the pedal the cable pulls a valve in the tranny, if the engine rmps aren't too high, it will downshift, you should be able to find lower springs
