V8 s10 swap??
Question: OK i was going to build a 2.8 but i decieded to build a v8, much easier, more power, probally the same price, but its a common thing. Who makes the cheapest adapters for the motor? Do i need a certain oil pan? Its going in a 2wd s10. Will i need to cut the floor pans up?Id really like to get a 5 speed out of a camaro for it. I dont want to go auto but i will. Any Ideas, or help?
Answers: As Paul said, go to the jagsthatrun website . Get the conversion manual because it deals with every issue you will run in to. It will be the best $30 you will ever spend. If you're prepared you can do it in a weekend. If not, you will be pulling it in and out and playing with it forever. They also have all the parts you will need. Mine ran right the first time and years later it still drives like a new truck. It's all in the preparation. Issues you will run in to are mounts, transmission ,gauges, radiator etc. As I said, we were prepared and did the swap in a weekend. Took it to the track this summer and smoked a Hemi Truck.
My buddy did it and by the time it was all said and done he wished he never would have messed with it. It was a huge disaster from start to finish. The so called adapters are more trouble than help. I wish you luck with it.
i own a shop,,and go to advance and have them order you a engine mount kit for it they come with the stands and mounts to install the engine in it,and i would use an automatic if i was you ,,there will be a little cutting if you use a 5 speed ,but not that much, most people just prefer the automatic over having to change gears all the time, but one with a 5 speed would be nice, and also different, i have only seen one done this way,but order the kit it works a lot better than trying to make stands and stuff, good luck with it ,i hope this help,s.
It will be a very tight fit and it will involve some cutting to stuff a V8 in there. Contact Advance Adapters (www.advanceadapters.com or 800-350-2223 or 805-238-7000), they will have the stuff you need and be able to give you great advice. You will also need a bigger radiator and you would be well advised to go with a juice box (auto tranny). The juice box will make it easier to NOT spin the back tires (don't worry, you will be able to smoke 'em whenever you want) and be a whole lot easier to stuff under that thing.
NO problem,

i am not real sure but i think that the 2.8 motor mounts will work with your small block they should bolt up to the engine and fit the engine cradle just right as far as space goes the hei disturber may hit the fire wall but you can fix that with a hammer and a block of wood you will also have to run an electric fan and if i were you i would run an auto tranny its just easier to work with
