I am trying to find the ownership history of my 1970 chevy nova. Im supposed to be 3 owner.how can i findthis?
Question: I am supposedly the 3rd owner of my car. I know from the cowl tag that it was built in willow run, MI. It supposedly came from California. I want to find out if someone bought it from Cali and had it sent to them and possibly find out the title history, like who they sold it to or where. any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Answers: you can go to your states Department of transportation and do a title search to see who owned the vehicle before you. Then you would need to go to any other state that the vehicle was registered in and search those states too. It should get you close, providing every owner registered the vehicle in their name. This is not a free service but If you really want to know the history of your car shell out the $$$$
carfax and run the vin # it will tell you everything
try searching onlie in the state you're in (state listings, federal) under auto registrations, possibley DMV.. I did this once and found that I had to pay 30 bucks to find out about my car, who had it and where it was now. I didnt go thru with it tho.
Most often, the department of Motor Vehicles would be able to trace the history back. They are usually a government outfit so should be in the government section of the phone book for your local office. You probably need to take down the registration papers.
the last letter of the title number a=1 owner, b=2nd owner and so on
