200 Chevy Malibu??
Question: How do I remove the door panel on my 2000 Chevy Malibu? I need to replace the window motor. I have never worked on a car before, but I am a mother of two young children who lives in the Texas heat and my window is stuck in the down position. I need to get the window back up until I can figure out how to install the window motor myself. Any help would be appreciated.
Answers: I recently installed a motor on a 2001 cavalier. It is NOT easy. You have to be very careful. You have to drill out the rivets AGAIN being careful not to damage the glass. Your best bet is to try to lift the window while operating the switch. It may take several attempts but eventually it will raise. Some motors have a manual crank. check with the dealer. Once you are able to raise the window - disconnect the switch.
autozone.com has diagram and phots of almost everything...or get a haynes manual....... i would also be concerned about a lower intake manifold leak if you have the 3.1 v6.....
Back in 200 they had manual windows. Power windows were not an option til like 1492. I know my Chevy's.
If you have never worked on a car you don't want to try to change a window motor---it's not exactly beginner work--sorry if I sound condescending--just trying to be honest-- i am an automotive technician of 10 years and i sometimes struggle with these-if you can get the window up a little bit, just keep going little by little
