Will a 3 speed munsey transmission fit with a chevy inline 6 1949 engine??

Question: I have a friend who wants to add 3 speed munsey tran to his chevy engine it's a inline 6 cylinder 216 inches year is 1949. any help would be cool
Answers: It will but keep an eye on the rear axle. My fiance's dad overhauled his 1949 3100 and if you're not careful the rear axle will get torn off because of the excess torque.
My fiance says: that the drive shaft, trany, and rear axle are all stock in ours but because any upgrade to the motor or tranny causes more torque, you will have to replace the rear axle.
Everything will fit to the engine but not to the rear end. The '49 Chevy had a closed drive line. Which means that the drive shaft is enclosed in a tube that is solid to the differential. Everything can be changed but if he is using the Muncey transmission to save money he may not be all that far ahead.
