Ultra slow drivers??
Question: So, driving back from work, I come across these people who are driving at 30 mph on the highway, on the left lane. The freaking sign says 55 mph. There's nobody driving infront of these people. What are these people thinking while they are driving this way? Why can't they drive on the right lanee or do at least 50 or 55mph ?
Answers: They might be sleeping and don't have a clue where they are. Or they are so self absorbed that they could care less about anyone around them.
They can actualy get a ticket for that. It is obstructing the flow of traffic.
If it's a 2-lane highway, there's probably no minimum speed. If it's 3 or more lanes, they might get ticketed, but since it isn't dangerous most cops don't care.
Unless there is a speed limit sign that has a minimum low speed, it is legal to drive at any speed up to the high speed limit.
I am one of those people who is sometimes a slow driver.
I am tooling along at 55 mph & I notice someone tailgating me at about 1/2 a car length. Now I believe that at that distance the safe speed is 10 mph, so I slow down to the safe speed as dictated by the distance behind me of the tail gater, then after they pass me, I speed up again to what I consider to be safe speed of 55 mph when there's no one right in front or right behind.
Another time I do this is when the roads are slick from recent rain. I know that if we had to stop suddenly on a wet road, we can't safely, so I drive slower on wet roads.
Many a time I have been doing that, someone goes past me doing 70, then a few miles later I see that same car in a wreck, which proves to me that my driving was safer than theirs.
