What is the difference between road, street, avenue, Boulevard??

Question: What is the idea behind naming streets such as Boulevard, Parkway, Street, road, lane? How it is decided and who decides it?
Answers: I only know that in the Roman times (romans invented the terms road and street) a street is a straight path and a road is a path with bends and turns

boulevard = street lined by trees

parkway = highway passing through open spaces

lane = a narrow road

Ultimately, these definitions are used to name places
No difference anymore. They used to more fully describe the makeup of the street. Lane was narrow or short, Parkway was wide, usually divided with trees in the middle, etc...
I think people would get bored if it was Green Street.
So they spice it up with boulevard, road,street, avenue, etc.
the sumthin called the internet.
go to google
look it up . gosh people are so lazy theses days
It is decided by the person naming the route!
