Does spoilers in the car really help a lot or is it just cosmetic??

Answers: Spoilers are not much use on regular street cars, but the Bugatti Veyron uses them. There again it's not a regular street car @ Euros 1,000,000 for a 1,000 h.p. 250 m.p.h. car.
This thing is more powerful than Michael Shumaker's F1. Check it out.
My car has a spoiler. It's definately more for looks, because I bought it brand new from the dealership, and it handles like any other car I've driven without one. The gas mileage isn't any better either. It's cute, though!! LOL!
Well the spoilers helps the car to stay on the ground at high speeds by applying air pressure at the back of the car. Also when a car is doing high speed acceleration the spoiler helps to reduce air friction thus reducing drag resulting in less consumption of gas .
It's just cosmetic. They derive from spoilers on racing automobiles like in NASCAR and the Indy 500, where they serve a function. The airfoil-shaped devices on the back of the cars create a pressure difference that pushes the rear of the car toward the road, thereby improving the traction, balancing out the weight between front-and-back and reducing drag. Spoilers on normal consumer automobiles are merely stylish imitations that do not grip the air well enough, nor does the car travel fast enough, for them to be useful.
