Is a foreigner in China who is married to a Chinese and uses L visa allowed to owe a property like a car??

Question: My husband is a foreigner who has recently bought a car for us to use but during registration process, we were told that he cannot register it in his name because he uses L visa and do not have a residence visa. The same has been applied to his drivers license which was in the process of changing from his country to that of China. Please what can l do to get this problem solved? I am afraid l may loose him. He does his own business by buying things from here to see in his country..Can someone help me please???? Thank you.
Answers: If you live in the United States and are a citizen, you can have it registered in your name and legally (he can gift it to you so when you transfer it, your taxes will be very little or none), it is your property and whatever happens to it would be your responsibility. Insurance would also be under your name, and the premiums would be according to your age, what the car will be used for (work, pleasure, commuting etc.), how many other drivers will be using the vehicle, their ages etc. You can check these things out on the website if not in person with a qualified car insurance agent.
