I am the registered keeper, but the finance is in my husbands name, who owns the car? Me or Him??
Question: Obviously until the finance is paid, nether of us, but who would legally own the car, him or me?
Answers: if the title is in your name i would say you
Your husband does.
HIM
Registered keeper is not the legal owner ....... as it says on every log book.......... if you look.
Your husband would. Once the loan is satisfied, they send the title to your address, in his name.
the legal owner is not necessarily the registered keeper, they are both on the log book so check that. it will probably be the finance company until the car is paid off. regardless of who it says, if there were any problems with the finance eg non payment, your husband would be responsible as the finance is in his name.
Him. Legally the car actually belongs to the finance company and then your husband once paid. The registered keeper is not the legal owner neccessarily.
Him You are the keeper. He is the owner.
Neither of you, the car belong to the finance company
This is a very interesting question. You are obviously the registered keeper and the person whom the DVLA would contact if necessary. However as to the actual owner, I think it would depend on the finance. If the finance company has registered an interest in the car, as opposed to the loan just being general, then I would say that your husband owns the car, now and when the finance is paid. If the finance company has not registered an interest then you will have to fight it out between you
if it is financed in his name the title is also in his name,so he owns it
He does
The vehicle belongs to whoever signed the paperwork at the dealership for the registration.
LEGALLY THE REGISTERED keeper owns the vehicle and is responsible for that vehicle. however if the vehicle is still under finance the finance company own it until the finance agreement has been settled
Let me guess,
You just lost at least 35 lbs and are ready to pack your bags. Guess what hunny just like all that fat that you kept for him The car is his
*****
the one with the receipt that is the only proof of ownership as you say it is the hp company until it is paid for
Who ever is listed on the title (not the registration or the loan).
Hi Leean
Simply the finance firm does until its paid in full.
Then it would be the registered keeper, as they are responsible for all its legally registered and licenced until hes notifies DVLA of the new keeper.
So in my view he does.
hope this helps.. you could always ring DVLA on 0870 240 0010, ask the people who know ofr sure.
