Is there a way to find out who a vehicle is registered to??

Question: If I have the license plate number of a vehicle, is there a way to find out who it is registered to for free? My ex-husband has not paid child support in over six months and has bought two new vehicles in the past three months.
Answers: Check out the following website for the real answer

http://www.publicdata.com

You can look up license plates in 17 of the 50 states

This is NOT free, it costs $9.95/month, but this information is considered PUBLIC INFORMATION in these states. Mine (TX) was the first to allow this way back in 1996 or 1997. The website has been around since then.

The last time I looked up my own information, everything was correct, so despite claims that this is not possible, it is.
MAybe DMV, but I don't think its free.
This info is NOT available to civilians, however, ifm you have connections in the DMV, or in the police dept., you can get it.
This is restricted information and you can't access it. The child support people can though, and would probably be very interested in learning he has new vehicles and what the plates are.
